Book I:

A beginning best summed up as "unemployable" and unable to sit still. Directly out of his time at the University of Tennessee, Taylor Kress and Bonnie Simmons accepted a regular gig at See Rock City in Chattanooga, TN. This is where Jubal's debut album, Bloodroot (released in August 2015), was a necessary development to sell CDs. Rightfully named, the self-recorded album was tracked in a late 18th century cabin and really emphasizes their belief in songs origin's being rooted in simplicity.

Bloodroot showcases Jubal in a stripped-down format and highlights their rich harmonies and songwriting style.

Book II:

After 2 years of performing and cutting their teeth with the first record, Jubal had largely outgrown and matured past Bloodroot. This lead the band to Austin, Texas to record with Sam Simmons of NÄM. Warm Regards, was released May 25th, 2017. The record kept true to their simple beginnings, but with a shift towards fuller instrumentation and a gradual integration of new members to the sound. As of 2018, Jubal consists of additional members: Jasmine Hoisington (bass), Luke Bowers (drums), and Jake Smith (guitar).

Book III:

Experimenting and exploring more with what Jubal could be as a unit, the band hit road heavily in 2018 and 2019 playing over 100 shows per year. Performing across the country lead to the need for a new record and a new portrait of their sound. “The Peso Tapes” and “County Ball” (March 2019) are Jubal’s first ventures into self recording. “The Peso Tapes” showing Jake and Taylor’s ability to strip back further into ambient folk and “County Ball” capturing the band’s full collective power. Taylor moved his permanent home from Knoxville, TN to Ojo Caliente, NM where he and his partner began renovating a 100 year old adobe home.
